Julia Chen started practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 1998 with Anne Nowell and went on to apprentice and teach for her at the Astanga Yoga Centers of San Diego. Julia has also studied Ashtanga Yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India as well as intensives in California. Julia received her 200-hour Vinyasa Flow teacher training certification and her 500-hour YogaWorks Professional Program certification both under the mentorship of Gerhard Gessner at Prana Yoga Center in La Jolla, CA. She is certified to teach hot yoga through CorePower Yoga, has studied Restorative Healing & Yin Yoga with Debora Wayne, and has completed a 100-hour certification in Safe Yoga for Spinal Health (Yoga for a Happy Back) with Rachel Krentzman.

In 2014 Julia began teaching yoga for multiple sclerosis and has developed the program Adaptive Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis in order to share the many benefits of yoga to the MS community. Learn more about Adaptive Yoga for MS.
